Job Summary

Eisai is launching a new product in the U.S. focused on educating HCPs on a treatment for appropriate individuals suffering from mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or mild AD. The leader will lead a diverse team of sales professionals who support this important launch and execute their work according to our strategic pillars of building trust in Eisai and the product in a compliant manner, simplifying the patient journey and ensuring broad access to the product.


The leader will lead, plan and direct the field implementation of the integrated commercial strategy and the organization’s sales plan for AD to meet and exceed expectations and the Company’s business plan to maximize the opportunity for all appropriate patients to successfully access the product, while optimizing investment at the time of launch and throughout the product’s lifecycle. The leader will be responsible for building, leading, and developing a best-in-class sales organization and culture across the western U.S.

This role will (1) be accountable for gathering insights from their teams and home office counterparts to enhance compliant coordination for the effectiveness of the commercial launch model; (2) execute and help to continuously improve the ways of working of a highly matrixed, cross-functional structure; (3) execute omnichannel strategies to develop the AD market and ultimately achieve patient needs and (4) effectively identify, elevate and propose appropriate solutions to gaps in strategy or execution to ensure broad access to the product and a simplified patient journey.

As a key member of the AD Franchise Commercial Leadership Team, this individual will collaborate with key stakeholders, including marketing and regional thought leader liaisons across the commercial organization to identify strategic and tactical solutions to best support and educate treatment decision-makers who wish to initiate therapy. This role will also be accountable for engaging with key opinion leaders and account decision makers.

Essential Functions

  • Build, develop, motivate and retain a highly effective team; provide strong leadership with clear communication and transparent expectations while holding people accountable.

  • Develop and implement sales strategies and tactics that are consistent with achieving sales goals. This includes examining results, providing direction and making necessary adjustments to achieve national sales goals.

  • Partner with relevant cross functional departments to provide market intelligence and contribute to the development of appropriate business strategies that support brand(s) objectives. Departments include but are not limited to Marketing, Sales Training, Sales Operations, Business Intelligence, Market Access, HR and Finance.

  • Proactively engage and influence KOLs and major accounts to establish a strong organizational presence for AD across the nation.

  • Ensure that the sales force budgets and expenses are managed within guidelines.

  • Ensure individual and overall compliance with Eisai policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) required; advanced degree (MBA) preferred

  • Minimum of 15+ years of pharmaceutical commercial experience across multiple business functions, including sales

  • 10+ years in relevant leadership roles including demonstrated ability to recruit and develop highly performing diverse teams to deliver results and maintain a deep talent pool for organizational succession planning and talent management

  • Some element of buy & bill, neurology, medical device, diagnostic and/or biologics experience strongly preferred

  • Broad commercial function experience required (e.g., marketing, market access, sales training, sales/business analytics)

  • Experience and deep understanding of healthcare ecosystems and account management, navigating complex accounts critical for success, (working with integrated delivery networks, health systems preferably in a biopharmaceutical manufacturer capacity)

  • Advanced understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturer compliance & regulatory requirements

  • Demonstrated success leading to the delivery of strong results and profitability, establishing strong partnerships, leveraging market and customer insights, strategic and tactical planning

  • Expertise in U.S. healthcare industry; including the understanding of delivery of care, the market access and reimbursement landscape, and key stakeholders that influence decision making within local markets and healthcare systems. Demonstrated ability to network, establish and maintain strong business relationships across multidisciplinary matrix team within Eisai.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach advanced sales skills to a specialized sales force

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and solid presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong business relationships

  • Must successfully complete all company training programs and pass the company certification process, as well as all customer mandated and vendor credentialing requirements

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle legally, safely and successfully is required; candidates must have a valid driver’s license to be considered

Eisai Salary Transparency Language:

The base salary range for the Exec Business Director - Alzheimer's Disease Sales West (US Field Based) is from :284,400-373,300

Under current guidelines, this position is eligible to participate in : Eisai Inc. Sales Incentive Plan & Eisai Inc. Long Term Incentive Plan - Field Sales.

Final pay determinations will depend on various factors including but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, and skills.
